Barefoot in the Pacific NW!

My name is Betsy, I'm 24 years old, and I have been an almost 24/7 barefooter for over a year now. My daughter is almost 19 months old and has only worn shoes a handful of times. We let her wear them or not, as she pleases since the area where we live doesn't tend to get too hot or cold for barefooting and the streets and sidewalks here are quite glass-free. My husband is a constant barefooter when he's not at work. We are expecting a new baby anytime from 1 week to 6 weeks from tomorrow (babies come when they're ready, not when they're due) and he/she will probably remain barefoot for quite some time to come after being born as well!

Neither my husband nor I were barefooters when we met or started dating or were married, but we've always been a bit counter-cultural and open-minded to new and natural ways of being healthier and more aware of our environment. Barefooting just fits right in with the rest of our values and we very much enjoy taking barefoot walks with our barefoot daughter around town 8) We get a lot of looks and comments which are overwhelmingly positive and have never been accused of being negligent of our daughter because of her bare feet. I suspect this is because we are barefoot as well

I'm excited to have this message board and look forward to "meeting" more barefooters both from the SBL and not!

My main non-barefooting interests are reading, playing/writing/listening to music, learning, parenting, being as health-conscious as possible, and being out in nature. I play trumpet, french horn, and piano though not as much as I did before I became a parent...

love and peace.

All I can say is, I'm jealous. Sounds like you have a thoroughly enjoyable life.
Stand or fall, the choice is yours.

Reason is what separates humans from the beasts.
