Thoughts, plans and ideas on how to start getting barefooting more noticed and accepted

Most of us on this board are also members of at least one barefoot mailing list, and maybe other forums as well. So we all know the number one topic of discussion is how to gain acceptance so we can live the 24/7 barefoot life we all desire. The problem is a simple one, but the solution is not.

The problem is that we are currently only in the early stages of the "movement". We simply don't have enough barefooters to amount to anything. Most of the people I see posting on the lists or this forum are the sole (unintentional pun) representative of their geographical area. I know in the seven years I've been living in this city I have only once seen somebody unshod in an "inappropriate" place. When you are the only person doing something you will be labelled a freak. It's not until you have a group doing something that it becomes a "lifestyle".

The only solution I see is to start networking. If you're a member of another board or mailing list that allows you to submit links, add this board to the list. I changed my signature on non-barefoot forums to reflect my lifestyle and included a link to the board. There are people out there, just like I used to be, who have no idea that going barefoot is a safe, healthy thing to do. They may have the urge to go barefoot, but have no idea others already do. That's exactly the position I was in. I hated shoes, but accepted that I was required to wear them in order to go anywhere. I'm sure many of you were the same. It's up to us to show these folks they are not alone, that they can kick off their shoes and live the good life. We have to spread the word until enough people join us and we reach critical mass.
Stand or fall, the choice is yours.

Reason is what separates humans from the beasts.
