Feet Conditioning

Postby Albert on Mon Jun 04, 2007 4:17 am

I love to go barefeet as much as I can; however, I can't do it as much because of work. I love my feet to feel rough and hard and hate it when they are soft and moistured after taking my shoes off. How could i increase my calluses without being barefooting 24/7?

Someone informed me about a product called DAT Sticks for Conditioning Hands & Feet. It comes with three different formulas. Callous Stick is used prior to workouts to promote toughening of calluses on hands and feet. Condition Stick is used at night to keep calluses smooth and pliable. Rip Stick may be used whenever calluses are sore, hot, blistered or ripped to reduce discomfort and assist in healing.I have also used hoof toughner from a tack store for horses, I read a book not too long ago that said a team from France that won a Raid Gaulouis used it to avoid blisters on their feet during the six day race. What do you think?
I understand that some people care a lot about the look of their feet, but I really don't care about that. I rather have tough feet than sensitive ones. I guess it is a matter of preferences.

Thank you for your help, and I love this bulletin board!

Hey Brianjstafford!

It's always great to find people with your same taste. I guess that's the beauty of this board. You asked me what was like to use the hoof toughner. I have used it and let me tell you that it works. The skin on your soles get thicker when applying it. When applying it you have to let it dry before walking. It may take around 30 min. The more you use it the rougher your soles will get. I believe that you would love that product. I wish I could use it more often, like everyday to see better results. Work and the everyday life always takes me away from my barefooter desires. I guess I should dedicate myself a little bit more to my rough feet dreams, and use the toughner everyday, right?

Well brianjstafford, I hope this is only the beginning of a long conversation about rough feet.

Hello again Brian,

The thing that the hoof toughener does is to thicken up the skin of your soles. The more you use it the rougher and thicker your skin gets. The main ingredient that the produt has is tannic acid found in black tea. Martial artists use black tea to condition their feet. The problem of the tea is that you would have to put your feet in tea for a long time, at least four times a day ( or more because the tannic acid is not that concentrated ) You would also have to use three or four bags each time to make it worth your while. Who has time for that? The hoof toughner acts faster. Where can you get it? I bought mine on line at a horse related store. I put it on last night after a long time without using it, and it's amazing how your soles feel rougher right after one application.
The produt I got is Durasole from www.alvinfarriersupply.com
The produts read: " Durasole is an antibacterial drying agent formulated to thicken and toughen the exfoliating sole.

I hope all this information will help you in your quest for rougher soles. You got me inpired to apply it back again with more consistency. I can't wait to inform you of my results and hear from yours as well.

Take good care of yourself.
Albert

I'm going to have to look into that stuff as well. I don't get to do much walking and need a way to toughen my feet and keep them that way.
Stand or fall, the choice is yours.

DAT Sticks

Postby Albert on Tue Jun 12, 2007 5:15 am

Another product that I use ALL the time and it's AMAZING, it's thee DAT sticks. I use the callous stick to toughen up my soles. You will be amazed how fast this product creates a thin calloused surface on your soles. If you apply it before barefoot walking, running, etc. You will experience a change on your feet. When you apply it, you have to let it dry first before you start walking. You can apply it as many time as you want. The more you apply it, the better the results.
I truly LOVE this product.

You won't be disappointed.
