Peace and Good!
Our friends who are SBL members already know me: I am a simple and humble secular franciscan brother, who likes very much to go bare-footed, doing a private vow, when joining Secular Franciscan Order, to go bare-footed whenever possible, or at least putting on sandals or another open toe and poor foot-wear.
When I was 13 years old, dwelling in front of a beach, obviously bare-footed I crossed the street to go to sea, although as a fine little boy I didn't go bare-footed on the streets and even around my house, in presence of my relatives.
But when I felt myself alone, going my mother to work, I began some times of prayer, and I discovered I did it better being bare-footed.
Many familiar and social pressures inhibited me to show my wishes to go bare-footed, although my mother was a sandals apologist.
I don't want to be fastidious, repeating here what I wrote already somewhere. So, I invite you to go http://360.yahoo.com/fatimadogblue and read my entries. There you'll found more spiritual explanations to my barefootedness.
Sincerely yours
Alberto Guimaraes
