I was in a local Dollar General one day buying a few odds and ends, typical errand. I was standing at the checkout and heard the girl behind me whispering to her mother. I couldn't make out what she was saying, but I got the impression it involved me. My suspicion was confirmed when the woman told her daughter, "Some people just don't know any better." I smiled to myself and thought, "You're right, some people don't know any better. They spend their whole lives with their feet entombed in torturous cocoons just to be fashionable."
As amusing as the moment was, it still shows the attitude we have to counter before we can become "mainstream".
